The same goods receipt activity now requires one less resource, which we have allocated to other activities. In addition, we have achieved a logical redistribution of warehouse space, a reduction in returns and the huge costs associated with them (especially on foreign orders), real time inventory, and real optimization of the entire production process, from a lean perspective.

Thanks to the continuous dialogue between ERP and WMS, StockSystem is used not only for warehouse management, but also for the coordination of the production stages: from the handling of internal goods to the picking of raw materials, from moving to the painting areas to the replenishment of the lines of We were looking for a partner who could interact well with us, we are happy with the choice we made, even after more than 10 years

NEEDS

In 2003, at the height of the expansion phase, the management of La Fortezza felt the need to improve logistics flows inbound, along production lines, and outbound, so they decided to implement a WMS.

The main issues were:

  • incoming goods were not labeled;
  • goods had very different volumes: ranging from small parts (screws and bolts) to sheet metal and coils;
  • there were differences in inventory and physical stock of goods, as opposed to accounting, and this could lead to stock breaks and disruption of production flow;
  • it was complex to associate finished goods with the relevant orders.

SOLUTIONS

the goals were:

  • Associate finished goods with each job order;
  • Have certainty of inventories and their location;
  • reduce errors;
  • reduce order fulfillment time.

After careful evaluation, La Fortezza decided to implement Replica Sistemi's StockSystem solution, integrated with handheld and vehicular RF terminals to optimize and control all phases: from coil entry, through processing during the production line to loading the order onto the vehicle.

To do this, the client provided web credentials for suppliers to view orders for them with the ability to directly print barcode labels to be affixed to each item ordered.

In fact, by producing "on order," La Fortezza needs to directly associate each component of the production process with the specific order.

Therefore, even if the supplier sends La Fortezza two packages of screws of the same type but destined for different job orders, the label on both boxes may not be the same.

To avoid errors, thanks to StockSystemWeb, the supplier is able to receive all the necessary information about the order sent by the customer and print it with the relevant labels, which are then applied to the individual items (from small parts such as screws and bolts, to sheets and coils of sheet metal).

This integration saved time at the receiving stage, because by reading the item label via terminal, all the information associated with it is automatically uploaded to the system.

On the other hand, thanks to the WMS, in the loading area the packages are grouped by destination sector (e.g., if the racking is planned for the fruit and vegetable sector of the supermarket, rather than for the bread counter, etc.), recognizable even visually thanks to the color of the band printed on the order slip.

  • WMS: StockSystem

  • Hardware: 10 terminals Honeywell MX7 Tecton

  • 6 terminals Honeywell MX8 (produzione)
  • 5 Terminals Honeywell 9951 in Russia
