Document digitisation is the integration to the WMS and TMS of documents for the transport of goods: digital transport document and e-CMR (or waybill).
Thanks to the standard integration of the SMA.I.L:) platform software, the WMS, and the TMS, with ACCUDIRE, a Zucchetti subsidiary, we can offer our customers the digitisation of the transport document and the CMR, the mandatory waybill for the transport of goods by road in countries that have joined the Additional Protocol to the Convention on the Contract for the International Carriage of Goods by Road, with BLOCKCHAIN technology.
Why is it worthwhile
digitising documents?

SAFETY
Digital TD and e-CMR are secure, legally valid, storable, non-changeable and fraud-proof digital documents, thanks to blockchain technology.
ACCESSIBILITY
Digital transport document and e-CMR are accessible and traceable in real time by all players in the supply chain.CONVENIENCE
Digital transport document and e-CMR save administrative costs and issues: it is estimated to save more than 80%1 by speeding up customs operations in foreign transports.SUSTAINABILITY
Digital TD and e-CMR promote an eco-friendly approach by reducing paper and print usage. 1 IRU, Union Trasporti e Osservatorio B2B Politecnico di MilanoHow does digitisation happen?
e-CMR flow

- The WMS or TMS generates the transport document using the data already contained in the customer order.
- It connects via an interface to the ACCUDIRE platform, which receives the document and prepares it for signature.
- The various carriers prepared for the transport digitally sign the document.
- The customer digitally signs the document on receipt of the goods.
- The ACCUDIRE platform sends the signed document to the WMS or TMS, keeps the digital copy and also sends it to the Internal Revenue Service in order to avoid the penalties provided for by Legislative Decree 87/2024: the legislation stipulates that the goods must be transported or dispatched to the EU Member State of destination within 90 days from the date of delivery, otherwise the transferor will be subject to a penalty equal to 50% of the tax not paid.
The trustworthiness of an electronic signature shall be presumed, unless proven otherwise, if the electronic signature:
- is uniquely associated with the signatory and is capable of identifying the signatory
- created by means that the signatory can maintain under his sole control
- is linked to the data to which it relates in such a way that any change can be detected
The electronic CMR, which contains the same information as the paper CMR and respects the way in which the signatures of the sender, the carrier and the consignee are collected, is a suitable means of proving that the goods have left the national territory and have actually been delivered to a country other than that in which the shipment of goods originated.

The supplier (or logistics operator) tells the carrier the date and time of collection goods to be delivered.
Meanwhile, he prepares the goods in the warehouse ready for dispatch.
He processes the transport document and sends it automatically to the ACCUDIRE platform, which makes it available to all supply chain players.
The haulier picks up the goods to be delivered, displays the e-TD and signs on a tablet / palmtop / smartphone at the moment of departure.
The digital signature is shared in real time by all parties involved (supplier, carrier, customer).
The carrier makes the delivery to the customer.
The customer checks the goods and signs the e-TD on a tablet / PDA / smartphone.
In real time, the supplier receives a Proof of Delivery (POD) and displays the signed e-TD.
He sends the data and digital documentation to the ERP for invoicing.
Sending the invoice to the customer in .xml (with all e-TD references)
The e-TD is digitally stored.

UNIQUE EXPERIENCE
The platform is based on blockchain, edge computing and generative AI, with the aim of speeding up and securing the export processes of companies and logistics operators.
In November 2022, for the first time in Italy and Europe, ACCUDIRE managed a groupage shipment with multiple geolocated and interconnected e-CMRs, in full regulatory and fiscal compliance for all parties involved.
Legal obligation or opportunity to become more efficient?

European regulations will oblige companies to adopt tools that favour document digitisation, but those who decide to invest earlier than others will gain a real competitive advantage, because through interconnected IT architectures, using edge computing, blockchain and API technologies, we can guarantee security, maximum interoperability, smooth integration, speed and supply chain traceability for trusted connections between exporters, shippers and carriers, ports, terminals and government authorities, banks and insurance companies.
All of this leads to reduced costs and increased margins and efficiency.
