Due Torri Spa is an Italian company founded in 1974 that has been in the business of integrated logistics for over 35 years. It has 15,000 square meters of covered warehouses, 6,000 square meters of temperature-controlled warehouses (8-30°C), cold rooms (of 2-8°C), 4,000 square meters of customs area.

It employs about 150 people to manage all warehouse activities and processes, all distribution activities and flows, the implementation of customized and personalized logistics services for all its customers.

NEEDS

In 1997, Due Torri's management decided to improve some aspects of the logistics process to improve the organization and management of all flows of goods handled in its warehouses: goods entry, storage, internal handling, picking, and inventory, in order to improve the service offered to its customers.

The goals of the restructuring project are:

  • elimination of the final control phase;
  • decrease in errors;
  • improved customer service

SOLUTIONS

"More than fifteen years ago we formed a partnership with Replica Sistemi because we saw that they had performant programs, programs that could give us satisfaction with which we manage lots, deadlines, lifo, fifo or whatever. We used to manage the warehouse with AS 400, but then with StockSystem we entered another world because we use radio frequency BarCode readers and therefore have permanent inventories" explained Claudio Franceschelli, Due Torri President.
After careful evaluation, Due Torri decided to implement Replica Sistemi's WMS StockSystem solution in the standard version, with RF terminals.

 In collaboration with Replica Sistemi's Project manager, all analyses were made regarding warehouse layout, material types, incoming and storage flows, picking and shipping flows and integration with the central information system.

The analysis project was structured by identifying a figure within the company who, together with the Replica Sistemi project manager, carried out:

  • testing of each individual function on an updated DB;
  • meetings with warehouse operators (especially in the last month before installation);
  • identified the start date.

Then the StockSystem software and RF terminals were installed, testing and operator training was done.

StockSystem manages all activities related to the handling of goods: from when they enter to when they leave, satisfying all needs, particularly those of the publishing and lighting technology sectors in which Due Torri boasts outstanding references.

Thus, the following processes are managed through StockSystem: goods receipt, storage, internal handling, material picking, revolving inventory, quality control, returns management and shipping.
