The WMS, in addition to traceability, offers advantages for having information about the warehouse, handling efficiency and route optimization; this has also allowed us to 'change' the logic of line slaving, because we now know exactly when material is needed and how much is needed. Among the benefits are also those involving safety, because we have removed about 40 percent of the material from the lines with important optimization from the handling point of view.

NEEDS

Over the past three or four years, some critical issues have become apparent due to increasing production volumes.

Specifically, the main features and needs highlighted were:

  • The company handles more than 25,000 references, so the complexity and volume of data and information to be managed is significant, so it realized that it needed appropriate specific information systems capable of interacting with the ERP to optimize operations.
  • The need for traceability of every component of the production process. For those operating with large international customers, this condition is a MUST.
  • The need to have accurate and timely information and components along the production process in order to operate lean.

DIGI-LEAN FACTORY

We began to compare and research the market for products and solutions that could fulfill our needs.

Thus the Digi-Lean project was born with the aim of bringing together within the name we gave the project the goals of:

  • digitalization
  • change processes to a lean perspective


Therefore, the company chose to implement both an in-plant MES and a WMS for warehouse logistics management.
