Partesa offers a complete food & beverage distribution service, starting with delivery at the required time and manner. It constantly invests resources to increase the efficiency and quality of logistics services, to improve safety in warehouses and at consumption points where plants are installed.

It is able to guarantee and sustain a delivery punctuality and completeness rate of 96 percent despite the large numbers: more than 1 million orders processed each year corresponding to about 23 million packages delivered.

I am very satisfied with the efficiency achieved with StockVoice because in a short period of time we have increased productivity, reduced errors, and eliminated control steps. The ease of use of voice technology has enabled operators to become familiar with the new system quickly and move around the warehouse with speed and accuracy.

Before landing in the Pioltello warehouse, the depot was in Cernusco sul Naviglio. The management of the logistics warehouse was often burdened by slowdowns and errors that penalized performance, results and service rendered to customers.

In fact, the limited availability of loading bays and the lack of a warehouse coordination and mapping system strongly conditioned order picking and distribution operations. The activity of preparing outgoing goods and loading vehicles took place on an external dock that did not allow for all those controls necessary to ensure perfect consistency between customers' requests and what was prepared by the company as a response.

In order to ensure higher customer service while trying to contain costs and improve efficiency, Partesa decided to invest in the computerization of logistics activities.

GOALS

The main goals were:

  • increased performance;
  • use of the voice system;
  • security of inventories;
  • elimination of the final inspection stage;
  • decrease in errors;
  • independence from human resources.

ISSUES

The main problems in managing logistics flows were:

  • high number of references;
  • picking 95% total volume of shipments:
  • non-Italian cooperative operators;
  • high seasonality.

LOGISTICS WAREHOUSE MANAGEMENT SOLUTIONS

After careful evaluation and analysis, it was decided to implement a computerized warehouse management system: SMA.I.L:) Replica Sistemi's StockSystem.

It was decided to use radio frequency, which enables correct and timely logistics warehouse management:

  • of warehouse locations
  • of lots and deadlines
  • of warehouse activities

  • Voice Hardware: 10 terminals Vocollect
  • Hand-held Hardware: 6 terminals Honeywell
  • From September 14 to 25, 2009, in collaboration with the Replica Sistemi project manager, all analyses were done regarding warehouse layout, material types, incoming and storage flows, pickup and shipping flows, and integration with the central information system.
  • On September 28, StockSystem and StockVoice software was installed.
  • From October 5 to 7, hardware was installed: 10 Vocollect voice terminals and 6 Honeywell handheld terminals.
  • From October 8 to 16, testing was done.
  • From October 13 to 16 training was given to operators.
  • From October 20, use of the system for goods entry began and it went into full operation on November 23 with total shipments.

The Partesa Lombardia warehouse computerization project is a concrete case of innovation in logistics and demonstrates the reliability and quality of Replica Sistemi's software products integrated with modern technologies such as Voice.
